Patrick Mahomes, Chris Jones Lead Six Chiefs on PFWA All-NFL, All-AFC Teams

Matt Derrick January 23, 2023

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and defensive tackle Chris Jones were among four Chiefs who earned All-NFL honors from the Pro Football Writers of America on Monday.

Joining them on the All-NFL team were Travis Kelce and Tommy Townsend. The four selections on the team were tied with the San Francisco 49ers for the most All-NFL selections.

It’s the second time Mahomes as earned All-NFL honors and his third selection to the All-AFC team. When Mahomes earned All-NFL honors in 2018, he went on to win the organization’s most valuable player award as well. The PFWA will award the MVP and offensive and defensive players of the year awards on Wednesday.

The Mahomes, Jones, Kelce and Townsend quartet also earned All-AFC honors along with center Creed Humphrey and left guard Joe Thuney.

Kelce earned All-NFL honors for the fourth time while landing on the All- AFC team for a fifth occasion. This is the first time Jones has earned All-NFL selection from the PFWA but it’s the fifth time in the last six seasons he’s earned All-AFC honors.

For Townsend, Thuney and Humphrey, it’s their first honors from the writers association.

Mahomes, Jones, Kelce and Townsend have earned consensus All-Pro honors this season with their selections to the first teams from the Associated Press, PFWA, Pro Football Focus and the NFL Players Association.
