KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs returned to practice Tuesday without two starting offensive linemen ahead of Saturday’s game against the New England Patriots.

Right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and center Mitch Morse did not practice as both have not passed the concussion protocol, coach Andy Reid said.

Morse sustained a concussion in the season finale and missed last week’s game against the Houston Texans, while Duverny-Tardif suffered a concussion against Houston and did not finish the game.

Both offensive lineman were on the sidelines wearing baseball caps observing teammates warming up during the portion of practice open to the media.

Outside linebackers Tamba Hali (thumb, knee) and Justin Houston (knee) also didn’t practice, but Reid didn’t appear concerned when considering the Chiefs practiced indoors.

“More precautionary measures than anything,” Reid said.

Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin (ankle) and running back Spencer Ware, who is dealing with an ankle sprain, round out the remaining players to not practice Tuesday.

“He’s making progress from yesterday to today,” Reid said of Ware.

Maclin remains day to day.

The Chiefs did not issue an official injury report with practice designations, but will do so starting Wednesday leading to Saturday.
