KANSAS CITY, Mo. — No surprises for the Chiefs appeared on the inactive list for Saturday’s Divisional Round playoff game against Jacksonville as Kansas City’s squad appears in strong health this late in the season.
Wide receiver Mecole Hardman is the long regular starter on today’s inactive list. Hardman (pelvis) was ruled out by head coach Andy Reid on Thursday, and this will be the 10th contest he has missed this season.
Defensive end Frank Clark (groin) was a limited participant in practice this week but returned to a full workload on Thursday and carried no game status designation. Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (hip) and wide receiver Skyy Moore (hand) were the only other players on the injury report but both will play against Jacksonville.
On Friday the Chiefs use the standard practice squad elevation in adding wide receiver Marcus Kemp and offensive lineman Austin Reiter to the game-day roster but both are inactive for today’s game.
The Chiefs complete inactive list against the Jaguars on Saturday:
- WR Mecole Hardman
- QB Shane Buechele
- OL Darian Kinnard
- DE Malik Herring
- DE Joshua Kaindoh
- WR Marcus Kemp
- OL Austin Reiter
Why elevated Kemp and Reiter if they’re not playing? The elevations certainly provided depth at key positions if the Chiefs had any last-minute injuries pop up overnight or during warmups. It also provides two veterans with a game-day check, which is a good reward for two long-term players for the franchise.
The Jaguars listed six players as questionable for Saturday’s contest including quarterback Trevor Lawrence (toe). Lawrence will start, however, along with center Luke Fortner (back) and right guard Brandon Scherff (abdomen).
The Jacksonville inactive list:
- WR Kendric Pryor
- CB Montaric Brown
- CB Gregory Junior
- OLB De’Shaan Dixon
- DL Jeremiah Ledbetter
