The Chiefs announced six players did not travel to Green Bay for Thursday night’s preseason finale against the Packers at Lambeau Field.
The players are wide receivers Dwayne Bowe (quad) and Junior Hemingway (hip), left tackle Eric Fisher (illness), defensive end Mike Catapano (illness), outside linebacker Tamba Hali (knee) and inside linebacker Joe Mays (wrist).
Bowe and Hemingway suffered their respective injuries in the second preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. Both did not play in the third preseason game and did not practice this week.
Fisher missed practice this week after coming down with the flu.
Hali’s knee experienced swelling following Monday’s practice and missed Tuesday.
Mays recently underwent surgery to repair ligament damage in his right wrist. He had his right arm in a sling during Wednesday’s team kickoff luncheon.
Catapano hasn’t played in a preseason game and missed 13 total practices since July 30.
The Chiefs starters are not expected to play, coach Andy Reid told reporters during a Tuesday post-practice media session.
Backup quarterback Chase Daniel is expected to start the first period before giving way to quarterbacks Tyler Bray and Aaron Murray, both of whom will split the final three periods.
