Kareem Hunt carries heavy work load in Wednesday’s padded practice

Matt Derrick August 2, 2018

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt eased any worries that an offseason hamstring injury may linger, taking the field with the first-team offense in full pads with contact on Wednesday.

Hunt took part in goal line situations as well team run activities and full scrimmage. He showed no ill effects from the injury, sharing the first-team work load with Spencer Ware and Damien Williams.

Two players did not finish practice on Wednesday. Rookie defensive lineman Derrick Nnadi left practice early with an elbow injury. Wide receiver Marcus Kemp suffered a low ankle sprain but expects to make a quick recovery. He remained in the workout tent lifting weights and riding a stationary bike during the remainder of practice.

Linebacker Ukeme Eligwe (foot), cornerback Keith Reaser (quad) and offensive lineman Gordon Dillon (undisclosed) did not practice but worked out on the sidelines. Linebacker Reggie Ragland (knee) appeared on the sidelines with trainers midway through practice, which he did Monday as well. Running back Charcandrick West remains in the league’s concussion protocol.
