KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs concluded their final practice for Sunday’s AFC divisional playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with an indoor workout, shielding players from the bitter cold for one day in anticipation of freezing rain moving into the Kansas City region.
The first-round bye seemingly worked wonders for the Chiefs health wise. Everyone worked out Friday except veteran linebacker Tamba Hali, who took a regular rest day according to coach Andy Reid.
“He’s going to be ready to go and play in the game,” Reid said. Everybody else is good to go too.”
Linebacker Justin Houston appeared on the practice field for stretching but did not participate in position drills during the portion of practice open to the media.
Coach Andy Reid said Houston would play Sunday.
The Steelers will be without backup linebacker Anthony Chickillo (ankle) with tight end Ladarius Green (concussion) listed doubtful.
Starting defensive end Ricardo Mathews returned to practice on a limited basis Friday. The team lists him questionable for Sunday along with reserve running back Fitzgerald Toussaint.
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger practiced fully Thursday and Friday and expects to start Sunday. The signal caller appeared to suffer a foot injury near the end of his team’s win over Miami last week.
