ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — Two of the Chiefs top six lineman left practice early Thursday, leaving the offensive to cobble together a new first-team offensive line during the last live period of the day.

Left tackle Eric Fisher tweaked his shoulder and current left guard Cameron Erving tweak his right knee, according to head coach Andy Reid. The coach gave no indication of the severity of the injuries nor if either player could miss additional practice time..

Fisher underwent shoulder surgery after the 2014 offseason. It is not clear if the tweak affected the same shoulder.

Erving moved into Fisher's left tackle spot after his exit with Bryan Witzmann entering the lineup at left guard. Upon Erving leaving practice, Andrew Wylie entered at tackle. Wylie and Mitchell Schwartz shared reps on both the left and right sides.

“(Offensive line coach) Andy (Heck) does a good job of mixing guys and moving them around so you're not losing the mental part of it,” Reid said after practice. “The guys know they can step and play all these positions, which is good. That helps.”

Erving currently leads in the position battle at left guard. But the team considers him their primary backup at every position on the offensive line, including both tackle spots.

Linebacker Reggie Ragland (knee), running back Charcandrick West (concussion) and wide receiver Marcus Kemp (ankle), cornerback Keith Reaser and offensive lineman Dillon Gordon (undisclosed) did not practice on Thursday.

Linebacker Ukeme Eligwe returned to practice on a limited basis after missing the last few days with a foot injury.

The Chiefs have an off day on Friday before resuming their training camp schedule on Saturday.
