Eric Berry Sits Out Practice, Questionable for Chiefs Against Oakland in Week 17

Dec 13, 2018; Kansas City, MO, USA; Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Eric Berry (29) warms up before the game against the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chargers won 29-28.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs safety Eric Berry took an apparent step backward in his return from a heal injury, sitting out practice on Friday with the club listing him as questionable against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.

"Eric Berry didn't practice today, his foot was bothering him, calf area again was bothering him," head coach Andy Reid said following Friday's practice. "So we'll just see. We backed off and we'll see how he does."

The coach didn't completely rule Berry out for the team's season finale.

"He's going to try and see if he feels better," Reid said. "That's what he's going to do right now. Then we'll just see how he is as time goes on here."

The Chiefs listed wide receiver Sammy Watkins as out. This will mark the fifth-straight game Watkins missed with a foot injury.

Cornerback Kendall Fuller was a late scratch as a game-time decision last week against Seattle. He practiced in full this week, but is listed as questionable. Fuller said his injured thumb is "feeling better, getting better."

Reid thought the corner did a good job in practice this week.

"He worked through it and didn't miss a beat there," Reid said.

Running backs Spencer Ware and Darrel Williams, both nursing hamstring injuries, also appear questionable for Sunday.

Offensive lineman Cam Erving, who started the team's first 13 games, practiced in full this week and does not appear on the team's injury report. Veteran Jeff Allen started the last two games after Erving suffered a knee injury in Week 14, but Reid didn't indicated that Erving would step back into the lineup this week.

"He's about there and working hard," Reid said. "We got the rotation going right now the way we have it."

Another offensive lineman, right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif returned to practice this week from a fractured fibula and ligament damage in his ankle, and seemed to pass the next test in his recovery.

"I thought he did good," Reid said. "He didn't miss any of the snaps on the scout team and worked hard there."

Duvernay-Tardif remains on injured reserve and will not play Sunday. The Chiefs have the option of adding him to the active roster for the playoffs if they choose.

Practice squad quarterback Chase Litton also did not practice on Friday. Reid said he was sidelined with a stomach virus.
