KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Roy Miller was arrested early Saturday morning on a battery charge related to a domestic incident in Duval County, Fla.

Miller appeared in court Saturday afternoon and released on his own recognizance. His next is set for Nov. 28 at 9 a.m.

The judge hearing the case Saturday said the alleged victim in the incident no longer wished to press charges, according to reports from Action News Jax journalist Kaitlyn Chana who attended the hearing. Prosecutors requested more time to investigate the matter.

Miller was told by the judge that any violence toward his wife would break the terms of his release, according to Chana.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office booked Miller at 4:53 a.m. eastern time on a battery charge of a domestic nature causing bodily harm with a minor injury.

The Chiefs issued a statement Saturday indicating they were aware of Miller’s arrest.

“This morning we were informed about an incident involving one of our players, Roy Miller,” the statement read. “We are still in the process of gathering details on the situation. We will have no further comment at this time.”

Miller signed with the Chiefs as a free agent in August. He spent the previous four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played for Tampa Day during the 2009-12 seasons.

The ninth-year veteran from Texas joined the Chiefs during training camp. He torn his right Achilles tendon last October, ending his season on injured reserve. Miller played a backup role for the Chiefs this season, collecting six total tackles and a broken up pass in seven games.

The Chiefs are on a bye week this Sunday and head coach Andy Reid gave his team the week off.
