KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs defensive end Chris Jones is expected to practice Thursday as the Chiefs initiate their preparation for Super Bowl LVIII after the day listed him on Wednesday’s estimated injury report with a quad injury.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said left guard Joe Thuney (pectoral) and defensive end Charles Omenihu (torn ACL) won’t practice Thursday. While Omenihu will miss the game against the San Francisco 49ers, Reid said there’s still a chance Thuney can return for the game.
“(He’s) making progress, not counted out,” Reid said. “We’ll just see how he does. Everybody else is ready to go.”
That means running back Isiah Pacheco, who has been dealing with toe and ankle issues, was also expected to practice in some form. Linebacker Willie Gay (neck) and cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (calf) are also expected to participate after being listed as questionable Wednesday.
Chiefs players had an off day on Wednesday but the team issued an injury report due to league requirements. The participation report was an estimate of how much the club expected the players to work if they had held a practice.
Wide receiver Kadarius Toney, who was listed as a full participant with a personal non-injury designation, also is expected to practice. Toney has not addressed the media since a social media post Sunday on his account suggested that he was healthy and the team inaccurately listed him on the injury report with hip and ankle injuries.
