KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs players not expected to dress for Saturday’s preseason contest against the Minnesota Vikings has no surprises.
Wide receiver Dwayne Bowe (quad) and strong safety Eric Berry (heel) will not play, but running back Jamaal Charles (foot) is expected to be in uniform.
Charles, who injured his foot moving out of the training camp dorm, did not play in the second preseason game and missed the week’s first two days of practice. He practiced Thursday, but took scout team repetitions.
Also not expected to dress are wide receiver Junior Hemingway (hip), running back Charcandrick West (illness), inside linebacker Joe Mays (wrist), defensive end Mike DeVito (hand), defensive end Mike Catapano (illness) offensive lineman Ryan McKee (knee), linebacker Josh Mauga (groin), defensive end Kona Schwenke and cornerback Damond Smith (abductor).
Bowe, Hemingway, Berry, Mays and McKee did not participate in the three practices leading to Saturday. May recently underwent surgery after injuring his wrist in the second preseason game.
Catapano practiced Tuesday before missing the final two days.
DeVito and Mauga practiced the past week, but ran with the scout team Thursday after missing last week’s preseason game.
Running back Joe McKnight, who did not participate in the previous two preseason games, is expected to see his first action of the preseason.
