KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs signed unrestricted free agents wide receiver Jason Avant, tight end Richard Gordon and safety Kelcie McCray, the team announced Friday.
Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
The 6-0, 210 pound Avant returns after making an impact in 2014. The Chiefs signed Avant on Nov. 21 and he went on to appear in five games, totaling 13 catches for 157 yards.
Avant started the 2014 season with the Carolina Panthers, but was released on Nov. 18. He had 21 catches for 201 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers.
The 6-4, 265-pound Gordon returns for another stint with the Chiefs. He first joined the team late in the 2013 season and spent training camp with the Chiefs in 2014 before being released.
Gordon signed with the Tennessee Titans for a brief stint before the Titans released him. He rejoined the Chiefs in December, appearing in two games with one start, but didn’t record a catch.
The Chiefs originally acquired the 6-1, 205-pound McCray during an Aug. 21, 2014 trade that sent guard Rishaw Johnson to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
McCray appeared in all 16 games and became a standout on special teams, where he recorded eight tackles. He had three tackles on defense (two solo).
