ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Chiefs on Sunday swapped out running backs two days into training camp.
The Chiefs announced the signing of running back Darrin Reaves and waived running back LaVance Taylor.
The 5-10, 220-pound Reaves, a native of Birmingham, Ala., originally entered the league in 2014 as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama-Birmingham with the Carolina Panthers.
He split time on the Panthers practice squad and active roster, appearing in six games with one start.
The 22-year-old Reaves totaled 78 yards rushing on 31 attempts, adding 31 yards receiving on five catches. The Panthers released Reaves on July 29.
Taylor’s stay with the Chiefs was short-lived after he signed Thursday. The native of Raytown, Mo., and former Central Missouri star participated in three practices leading to Sunday’s transaction.
