KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs signed linebacker Ja’Gared Davis to the practice squad, according to Monday’s NFL Transactions report.
The 6-2, 235-pound Davis originally entered the league in 2013 as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Methodist with the Houston Texans.
Davis then landed with the New England Patriots after the Patriots claimed him off waivers in August 2013.
Davis, 23, has appeared in four career games, all with the Patriots, recording an assist. He previously spent time on the Patriots practice squad before being released on Nov. 22.
The Chiefs in a corresponding move designating linebacker Darin Drakeford as practice squad reserve/injured to make room for Davis.
Drakeford’s designation does not count on the practice squad.
The Chiefs current 10-man practice squad consists of Davis, wide receiver Armon Binns, tight end Brandon Barden, defensive tackle Hebron Fangupo, guard Ricky Henry, cornerback Deji Olatoye, guard Jarrod Pughsley, tight end Adam Schiltz, wide receiver Fred Williams and defensive lineman Jerel Worthy.
