KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two days after the season officially ended, the Chiefs shifted focus in preparation for the upcoming season.
The Chiefs signed 12 players to reserve/future contracts, according to Monday’s official NFL Transactions report.
Eight of the players are familiar with the Chiefs having ended the season on the team’s practice squad.
The players signed by the Chiefs to reserve/future contracts are:
• DT Chas Alecxih (Pittsburgh)
• DB Malcolm Bronson* (McNeese State)
• T Chandler Burden* (Kentucky)
• WR Frankie Hammond Jr.* (Florida)
• TE Demetrius Harris (Wisconsin-Milwaukee)
• WR Jerrell Jackson* (Missouri)
• DB Vernon Kearney* (Lane)
• FB Eric Kettani* (Navy)
• WR Rashad Ross* (Arizona State)
• DB Kevin Rutland (Missouri)
• WR Fred Williams (St. Cloud State)
• LB Ridge Wilson* (West Alabama)
*Ended the 2013 season on the Chiefs practice squad
A reserve/future contract is signed with a free agent player who was not on a team’s active roster when the season ended. They are also signed with a view to the upcoming season once the league’s calendar year kicks off.
In this current scenario, the new NFL calendar is scheduled to start March 11, 2014.
