KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chiefs strong safety Eric Berry is inactive for Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams.
Berry entered the weekend listed as questionable with an ankle injury. The All-Pro safety put in a limited practice the past week and hasn’t played since suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 2. Sunday’s inactive status marks the fifth straight game Berry will miss.
Defensive back Ron Parker will continue starting in Berry’s place.
The Chiefs also list cornerback Chris Owens (knee) and wide receiver Donnie Avery (groin) as inactive, but both players were ruled out on Friday’s injury report.
Rookie cornerback Phillip Gaines is expected to replace Owens at nickel cornerback for a second straight game.
Wide receiver A.J. Jenkins will start a third straight game for Avery, who underwent sports hernia surgery on Oct. 3.
The Chiefs also list quarterback Aaron Murray, offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, center Eric Kush, defensive end Damion Square as inactive.
Murray, Duvernay-Tardif and Square have yet to dress this season.
Wide receiver Junior Hemingway, who was listed as questionable on the injury report with a hamstring injury, is active.
