KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs listed Spencer Ware a limited participant in practice Wednesday after the running back left the end of the Denver Broncos game Sunday night.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Ware sustained bruised ribs, but indicated he would participate in practice.
Linebacker Justin Houston remained the only Chiefs player out of practice. Houston has not stepped on the practice field since the team’s week 15 loss to the Tennessee Titans. Reid indicated Houston continued battling inflammation in his surgically repaired knee.
Cornerback Phillip Gaines, however, did return to practice field in a limited role. Linebacker Tamba Hali also appeared limited in practice, consistent with his normal work schedule.
Receiver Chris Conley, who briefly left Sunday night’s game with an ankle injury, participated fully in practice.
The San Diego Chargers, decimated by injuries much of the season, continue their bad luck with key players on the sidelines.
The team practiced Wednesday without starting offensive linemen King Dunlap (knee), Orlando Franklin (shoulder) and Matt Slauson (foot). The team listed starting running back Melvin Gordon (hip/knee) limited.
