KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs will have to wait to unveil rookie running back De’Anthony Thomas to the NFL.
Thomas, who suffered a hamstring injury late during Wednesday’s practice, is inactive for Sunday’s season opener against the Tennessee Titans.
Wide receiver Frankie Hammond Jr. will likely take over duties as punt returner with Thomas out.
The Chiefs also list cornerback Marcus Cooper (ankle) as inactive. Ron Parker will draw the start at left cornerback in Cooper’s place.
The remaining inactives are quarterback Aaron Murray, defensive back Kurt Coleman, center Eric Kush, offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and defensive lineman Damion Square.
The Titans list quarterback Zach Mettenberger, wide receiver T.J. Graham, wide receiver Kris Durham, linebacker Akeem Ayers, offensive lineman Byron Stingily, defensive lineman Mike Martin and defensive lineman DaQuan Jones as inactive.
