The Chiefs game-day inactives don’t contain surprises.
Rookie running back/wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas won’t play against the Denver Broncos as he nurses a hamstring injury. Thomas, who was declared as “out” on Friday’s injury report, has yet to play in a regular-season contest.
Wide receiver Frankie Hammond Jr., who gained 47 yards on four punt returns in Week 1, will continue with the duty with Thomas out.
The remaining inactives are quarterback Aaron Murray, cornerback Jamell Fleming, running back Joe McKnight, offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, defensive lineman Damion Square and wide receiver Albert Wilson.
Sunday marks the second straight game Murray, Duvernay-Tardif and Square have been inactive.
Wide receiver Dwayne Bowe (quad) returns to the lineup after a serving a one-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on substance abuse. Also returning to the lineup is cornerback Marcus Cooper, who didn’t play in Week 1 with an ankle injury.
Notable Chiefs actives are center Eric Kush, recently signed defensive lineman Kevin Vickerson and safety Kurt Coleman. Kush and Coleman were inactive in Week 1.
Meanwhile, the Broncos list wide receiver Cody Latimer, defensive back David Bruton, defensive back Tony Carter, linebacker Danny Trevathan, offensive lineman Ben Garland and offensive lineman Michael Schofield as inactive.
