KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chiefs backup running back Charcandrick West suffered a concussion during Friday night’s game against the Tennessee Titans, a team spokesman said Saturday.
West will go through the NFL’s concussion protocol before returning to the field.
The second-year pro currently leads the Chiefs through three preseason games with 89 yards rushing on 19 carries, averaging 4.7 yards rushing per attempt.
West also has four catches for 45 yards, both of which rank third on the team.
The Chiefs return to the practice field Sunday through Tuesday before closing out the preseason against the Rams in St. Louis on Thursday.
With Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis likely sitting out the preseason finale, the Chiefs have running back Darrin Reaves and fullback Spencer Ware, who can play tailback, if West can’t play.
