KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs rookies have arrived in Kansas City to prepare for the beginning of training camp, and on Saturday night the club confirmed they have finalized contracts with all six of their 2020 draft selections.
Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, linebacker Willie Gay Jr., offensive lineman Lucas Niang, defensive end Michael Danna and defensive backs L’Jarius Sneed and BoPete Keyes all passed their physicals and signed their contracts on Saturday. Terms of the deals were not immediately available.
Edwards-Helaire earlier on Saturday met with reporters on Zoom and said he was excited to get on the field for the first time in the NFL.
“This is my happy place,” he said. I’ve been doing this – I’ve only been on the Earth for 21 years and I’ve been playing football ever since I was 5, so this is what I do. I can’t wait, everything, the setup, everything about everything here is perfect for me and I can’t wait.”
Gay was also excited to finally walk into the Chiefs facility after going through the virtual offseason remotely.
“After it’s been postponed for so long, it’s finally here,” Gay said. “I’m motivated and ready to get better and make the team better any way I can. I just feel like I’m getting to do what I love again so it’s exciting.”
Niang shared similar enthusiasm.
“I’m super excited, it’s nice to see how they’re doing everything safety-wise, keeping us safe and making us feel comfortable, but I’m really excited to get on the field,” Niang said.
