Chiefs list three out vs. Jets; Darrelle Revis expects to make debut

Chiefs list three out vs. Jets; Darrelle Revis expects to make debut

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs linebacker Dee Ford, safety Eric Murray and running back Charcandrick West won’t play Sunday against the New York Jets, according to head coach Andy Reid.

“Everybody else practiced and has a chance to be ready to go,” Reid said.

The team also listed linebacker Tamba Hali and wide receiver Albert Wilson as questionable, but it appears both have a good chance to play Sunday.

Ford’s absence means he’s out for the fourth-straight and sixth overall this season with a back injury. Murray suffered a high-ankle sprain last week against Buffalo. West remains away from the team for personal reasons not related to an injury.

West’s absence leaves just starter Kareem Hunt and backup Akeem Hunt in the club’s backfield Sunday. Reid indicated no roster move appeared imminent, such as promoting running George Atkinson from the practice squad.

“Probably just go with the two,” Reid said.

The team can also fill in with receivers Tyreek Hill and De’Anthony Thomas if needed in the backfield.

Veteran cornerback Darrelle Revis, signed by the team last week, appears poised to make his Chiefs debut against his former team. Reid said “we’ll see” when asked if Revis would see action against the Jets.

“He did some good things,” Reid said. “He moved around well, and right now it’s just kind of getting acclimated back into it. I thought he did a nice job.”

Reid felt this team had a good week of practice following subpar performances the last weeks against the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills.

“The guys I thought they came out energetic,” Reid said. “They had a good week of practice. They know they’re going up to New York and playing a good New York Jets team. That’s how they prepared for it and most of all working on the things we need to get better at.”

The Jets list only backup cornerback Justin Burris as out with a concussion. Running back Matt Forte (knee) and starting right guard Brian Winters (abdomen/ankle) are questionable.
