KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs moved quickly to bolster their depth at center after Tejan Koroma went down with a knee injury, claiming center Jack Allen off waivers from Chicago.

Allen, a 6-foot-2, 296-pound lineman, entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints in 2016. He spent most of the season on the club's practice squad before earning promotion to the active roster for the last few weeks of the season.

The Saints waived Allen with an injury designation in August 2017 and he spent the season on injured reserved. He signed with the Bears in July and the club waived him on Saturday.

The former Michigan State lineman has not played in a regular season game. He earned first-team All-American and All-Big Ten honors during his senior season in 2015.

Koroma, a 6-foot, 290-pound center from BYU, suffered a right knee injury during practice on Sunday. He underwent an MRI in the afternoon for a suspected torn ACL. He had been running at center with the Chiefs' second-team offense.

If Koroma clears waivers, he will return to the Chiefs on injured reserved.
