KANSAS CITY, Mo. — General manager Brett Veach rewarded seven members of the club’s personnel staff with promotions on Wednesday and also confirmed the addition of two new staff members.
Mike Borgonzi assumes the role of director of football operations after previously serving as director of player personnel, a job he shared with Veach prior to the 2017 season. Former salary cap and legal executive Chris Shea received a promotion to football operations counsel and personnel executive.
“I’ve said from the beginning that I was fortunate to take this job with an incredibly talented staff already in place, a group that I was able to get to know very well over the last five years,” Veach said in a statement released by the club. “Throughout the year they continued to impress me. Not only did they support me, but they exceeded my expectations and each of them have earned this next step in their careers. I’m excited to continue to watch each of them grow in their new roles.”
The team also confirmed the hiring of Mike Bradway as assistant director of player personnel. Bradway spent the past 10 seasons in the personnel department of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Chiefs also added Greg Castillo as college scouting coordinator. He most recently served as a scouting intern for the New Orleans Saints.
Bradway is the son of former NFL executive Terry Bradway, who served in the personnel department of the Chiefs for many years before becoming general manager of the New York Jets.
Other promotions announced by Veach on Wednesday:
- Assistant director of player personnel Ryan Poles, formerly director of college scouting;
- Director of college scouting Ryne Nutt, formerly assistant director of college scouting;
- National scout Trey Koziol, formerly area scout;
- College and pro scout Jason Lamb, formerly area scout; and
- National football scout Rob Francois, formerly player personnel assistant
Earlier this year the Chiefs lost three members of their personnel department to former general manager John Dorsey’s new staff in Cleveland. That group included college scouting coordinator Dan Zegers, pro scout Jim Noel and area scout Matt Donahoe.
