KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Regular-season football returns for the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium with a season opener against the San Diego Chargers on Sept. 11.
“I always look forward to the schedule coming out because it means we are closer to football,” coach Andy Reid said in a statement.
The Chiefs have an early bye in Week 5 and are scheduled to play five games against four playoff teams from the 2015 season, including the two participants in Super Bowl 50, where the Denver Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers in the championship game.
Kansas City has three primetime games, highlighted by a Christmas night game hosting the Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 16 on NBC.
The remaining two primetime games are a road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4 on NBC’s Sunday Night Football and a home game against the Oakland Raiders in Week 14 on NBC’s and the NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football.
Three of the Chiefs’ final four games in the month of December will be at home, as the team hosts the Raiders, Tennessee Titans and Broncos in Weeks 14-16. The Chiefs close out the regular season on the road against the Chargers.
Kansas City hopes to continue momentum from a 2015 season that saw the team finish at 11-5 after starting the season 1-5. The Chiefs advanced to the Divisional Round of the playoffs before losing to the New England Patriots.
“We are looking to build off of last year’s momentum beginning next week with the start of our offseason program,” Reid said. “Our fans provide us with the best home-field advantage in the National Football League and we are excited to welcome opponents into Chiefs Kingdom.”
Single-game and group tickets, which are subject to availability and dynamic pricing, for all home games go on sale to the public on April 19, the Chiefs announced.
Sale dates and times vary for Jackson County taxpayers, season ticket members and Chiefs Kingdom Rewards members. Game tickets can be purchased online at the team’s official website or at the Arrowhead Stadium ticket office.
