KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs signed rookie cornerback Vernon Kearney to the practice squad, according to Tuesday’s official NFL Transactions report.
Kearney, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Lane with the Buffalo Bills, recently spent time with the Cleveland Browns before being released in late August.
He played two seasons as a wide receiver in college before transitioning to the defensive secondary.
NFLDraftScout.com rated Kearney as the 42nd best cornerback out of 217, according to his 2013 NFL Draft profile.
The Chiefs entered Week Seven with a free spot on the practice squad after elevating rookie safety Bradley McDougald to the active 53-man roster on Saturday.
