KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Holidays, primetime games and an international contest punctuate the Chiefs’ 2025 schedule released by the NFL Wednesday evening, establishing the course Patrick Mahomes and company must navigate in their Super Bowl or bust bid.
The schedule is dotted with highlights including a Super Bowl rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 2, a Thanksgiving road trip to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13, and a Christmas Day home contest against the Denver Broncos in Week 17. Seven primetime starts are on the calendar along with a total of 12 national broadcast windows, including 3:25 p.m. starts.
The season kicks off with the widely anticipated overseas trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil for an AFC West matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, who are the home team for the contest. This game will make the Chiefs the first NFL team to play a regular-season game in four different foreign countries. The primetime, Friday night game will air internationally on YouTube and YouTube TV, but will also be broadcast on a local television affiliate to be selected later. This is the first NFL game to air exclusively for free on YouTube.
Kansas City will play a record-setting five primetime games during the first eight weeks of the season, including Sunday Night Football matchups in Week 3 at the New York Giants and in Week 6 as hosts of the Detroit Lions. Two Monday night games round out the first half of the season with a trip to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5 and a home against the Washington Commanders in Week 8.
The Chiefs have their bye in Week 10 sandwiched between two road games: a trip to the Buffalo Bills in Week 9 and a visit to the Denver Broncos in Week 11. That’s the only time the Chiefs play back-to-back road games all season.

Clark Hunt Pumped for Brazil
Players sometimes have an indifferent relationship with international games but count Chiefs Chairman/CEO Clark Hunt says he’s “thrilled” for his club to be making the trip to Brazil.
“As a family and as an organization, we have made a commitment to growing the game of American football internationally,” Hunt said in a statement. “This commitment started with my father, Lamar Hunt, who was always finding ways to bring the game to new fans. The 2025 game in São Paulo is a tremendous opportunity for our team, and we are excited to bring Chiefs Kingdom to South America later this year.”
Club President Mark Donovan echoed those remarks in his own statement.
“We are always honored when the NFL recognizes our organization with unique opportunities to showcase our team, our brand, and Chiefs Kingdom, whether that’s primetime games, international games, or landmark games in terms of rights and distribution,” Donovan said. “Participating in the first game to stream for free around the globe exclusively on YouTube certainly fits that bill, and we can’t wait for audiences around the world to be introduced to Chiefs football when we take on the Chargers in Brazil.”
