KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy won’t face charges after his arrest Friday in Williamson County, Texas for an alleged felony assault.
Worthy was in the process of being released Saturday evening, Worthy’s attorney Chip Lewis confirmed in an email to Chiefs Digest.
The Austin American-Statesman reported Saturday evening that Williams County District Attorney Shawn Dick said his office won’t be accepting case after speaking with multiple witnesses.
“After further investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and further discussion with a third-party witness, Mr. Worthy and his attorneys, this case is being declined at this time pending completion of the investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office,” the Austin American-Statesman reported via an email from Dick’s office. “Mr. Worthy and his lawyers are fully cooperating with this investigation.
A team spokesperson told Chiefs Digest that the club was “aware and gathering information.”
A statement issued Saturday afternoon by attorneys representing Worthy said the complainant was asked multiple times over the last two weeks to vacate Worthy’s residence after the discovery of her alleged infidelity. The statement indicates a private investigator has evidence of this claim.

In the statement issued by attorneys Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett, it’s alleged that the complainant attempted extortion efforts and destroyed a room in the residence. It’s also claimed that the woman scratched Worthy’s face and ripped out parts of his hair. Worthy reportedly told law enforcement at the time of the incident that he did not want to press charges at that time.
Worthy’s arrest adds to a series of legal woes impacting Kansas City’s receiver room during the past two seasons. Last March in Dallas, Rashee Rice was involved in a high-speed hit and run crash that resulted in an arrest warrant on charges of aggravated assault, collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injuries. He has a court date scheduled in May and also faces potential disciplinary action from the NFL.
Jusyn Ross was arrested in October 2023 for domestic battery and criminal property damage of less than $1,000. The charges were later dropped after Ross entered a diversion program. He received a six-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
