KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs added two players to Thursday’s injury report.
Starting defensive end Allen Bailey did not practice with a calf injury, while rookie tight end James O’Shaughnessy was limited with a foot injury.
The Chiefs have depth behind Bailey on the defensive line, which is further boosted by the anticipated return of Mike DeVito (concussion), who put in a second straight day of full practice.
Rookie tight end Brian Parker is in line for more action if O’Shaughnessy isn’t available Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
Outside linebacker Tamba Hali, who didn’t practice Wednesday, returned to a full practice Thursday as the Chiefs continue to take easy on the 32-year-old pro. Hali has been dealing with swelling in his knee in recent weeks, but hasn’t missed a game.
Joining Devito and Hali as full participants in practice are tight end Travis Kelce (groin) and rookie linebacker Ramik Wilson (ankle).
Starting left guard Ben Grubbs (neck) missed a second straight day of practice, putting his status for Sunday’s game very much in the air.
The Broncos also had some movement on Thursday’s injury report.
Quarterback Peyton Manning (foot) and tight end Owen Daniels (shoulder, knee) put in a limited practice after both players did not practice Wednesday.
Coach Gary Kubiak didn’t appear overly concerned about Manning during his Thursday post-practice media session with the Denver media.
“He took a lot of the early portions of practice,” Kubiak told reporters. “He went through all of the things that we do in walk through. He did them full speed so that we could get all of our checks and all of those things, but he looked fine. Hopefully we’ll do more tomorrow and see where he is. He’s feeling better today.”
The same can’t be said about starting wide receiver Emmanuel Sander, who missed a second straight day of practice dealing with an ankle injury.
“I’d say there’s concern, but I’ll tell you what I think he’ll get there,” Kubiak told the Denver media. “My gut tells me that he’ll get there.
“We knew we were going to go through a week like this. My expectations are for him to do some stuff tomorrow and I know he’ll push to play Sunday. We’ll see. I think we expected it to go this way this week.”
