KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs begin the regular season on Sept. 13 on the road against the Houston Texans and have a Week 9 bye, the NFL announced Tuesday evening.

“April is an exciting time of year for us,” coach Andy Reid said in a statement released by the team. “Along with the schedule release and the NFL Draft, we also get our first opportunity as a team to get back to football. After seeing our schedule today including three primetime games, I know Chiefs Kingdom will be as energized as I am come September.”
The Chiefs’ three primetime games include one against the Denver Broncos in Week 2 at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday Night Football. The remaining two are on the road against the Green Bay Packers in Week 3 on Monday Night Football and San Diego Chargers in Week 11 on Sunday Night Football.
Kansas City appeared in three primetime contests in 2014, two at home and one on the road.
Three of the Chiefs’ first four games are on the road, but the scenario is switched down the stretch with the Chiefs playing three of the final four games at Arrowhead Stadium.
