KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A hint of football returned Wednesday afternoon with the NFL’s announcement of the 2014 preseason schedule.
The Chiefs play the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers on the road, while hosting the Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings at Arrowhead Stadium for the preseason, per the league’s announcement.
• Week 1, Aug. 7-10: Cincinnati Bengals
• Week 2, Aug. 17: @ Carolina Panthers on FOX at 8 p.m. ET
• Week 3, Aug. 21-24: Minnesota Vikings
• Week 4, Aug. 28: @ Green Bay Packers
Week 2’s game against the Panthers will be broadcast nationally. Time slots and specific dates for Weeks 1, 3-4 of the preseason will be announced at a later date.
The Chiefs finished 2-2 last preseason in Andy Reid’s first year as head coach.

Meanwhile, the regular season times and dates are expected to be released in late April. The Chiefs’ 2014 opponents are as follows:
Home games: Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Tennessee Titans, St. Louis Rams and Seattle Seahawks.
Away games: Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers.
Notes: The 2015 Pro Bowl will be played at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona, the NFL announced Wednesday … Super Bowl XLIX will be played at the same venue in Arizona a week later … The Pro Bowl will return to Hawaii in 2016.
