Week 7: Friday injury report

Week 7: Friday injury report

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin put in a limited practice Friday after passing the NFL concussion protocol and could play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“He’s passed everything,” coach Andy Reid told reporters Friday after practice. “We just have to see tomorrow how he feels.”

The Chiefs officially list Maclin, who did not practice the previous two days after sustaining the concussion in Week 6, as questionable on the injury, meaning he has a 50-50 percent chance to suit up.

The same can’t be said for defensive end Mike DeVito, whom Reid said did not pass the NFL concussion protocol.

DeVito, who suffered his concussion in Week 6, missed a third day of practice Friday and was ruled out for Sunday’s game.

“He’s making progress,” Reid said of DeVito.

The Chiefs list rookie inside linebacker Ramik Wilson as doubtful after he missed a third straight day of practice with ankle and knee injuries sustained in Week 6.

Outside linebacker Tamba Hali (knee, questionable) did not practice Friday, but it appears the Chiefs chose to take it easy on the 10-year veteran and he should be available against the Steelers.

“He worked yesterday,” Reid said. “The swelling stayed out of it pretty good, we just didn’t want (it) to increase here today. He should be good as we go forward.”

Inside linebacker Josh Mauga (groin, Achilles) is also listed as questionable after putting in a limited practice Friday. Mauga, however, practiced fully the previous two days and should be set to return to the starting lineup.

Defensive tackle Dontari Poe (ankle) is listed as questionable. Poe, who suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 5 and missed Week 6, practiced in a limited fashion the entire week.

The Chiefs could lean on rookie Rakeem Nunez-Roches, who saw action in Week 6 for the first time this season, if Poe can’t play and with DeVito ruled out.

Quarterback Alex Smith, safety Husain Abdullah (bicep), linebacker Justin Houston (elbow), tight end Travis Kelce (facial laceration) and kicker Cairo Santos are probable.

Rookie wide receiver Chris Conley, who was on the injury report with a knee injury the previous two days, is no longer listed.

The Steelers list starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (knee) as questionable after he put in a limited practice for a third straight day, while backup quarterback Michael Vick (hamstring) has been ruled out.

The signs point to third-string quarterback Landry Jones drawing the start against the Chiefs.
