KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs added two players to Thursday’s injury report ahead of Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.
Starting cornerback Sean Smith appears with a groin injury, but is officially listed as putting in a full practice. He should be available Sunday barring a setback.
Linebacker Frank Zombo, who contributes mostly on special teams, is listed as a limited participant due to a non-injury related issue.
Wide receiver Donnie Avery (groin) put in a limited practice for a second straight day after missing four straight games. He’ll likely need to show he’s in football shape after undergoing a sports hernia procedure in early October before the Chiefs allow him to return to the starting lineup.
Cornerback Chris Owens (knee) and linebacker Tamba Hali (knee) also put in a limited practice for a second straight day. Owens appears on track to make a return to the field.
The Chiefs list safety Eric Berry (ankle), cornerback Phillip Gaines (ankle, quad), running back Cyrus Gray (hand), wide receiver Junior Hemingway (hamstring) and tight end Travis Kelce (ribs) as full participants.
The Chiefs list cornerback Jamell Fleming (hamstring), linebacker Jerry Franklin (hamstring) and linebacker Josh Martin (hamstring) as not practicing, marking the second straight day of missed practice.
Meanwhile, the Bills list rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins as not practicing. Watkins left Wednesday’s practice with a groin injury.
