Wednesday injury report: week 9

Matt Derrick November 2, 2016

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs running back Spencer Ware remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol and did not practice Wednesday, as the team prepares its Sunday meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars at Arrowhead Stadium.

Coach Andy Reid did not yet rule out the back could play Sunday against the Jaguars. Ware ranks sixth in the league with 824 yards from scrimmage.

The only new addition to the afternoon injury previously undisclosed is Derrick Johnson, listed as limited in practice with a hamstring injury.

Tackle Mitchell Schwartz (ankle), defensive lineman Jaye Howard (hip) and linebacker Tamba Hali (knee) also did not practice.

“Mitchell Schwartz made it through the game, did a nice job,” Reid said about the tackle’s continuing ankle issue. “We’re going to back off of him today with his ankle. Nothing new on that.”

Reid said Howard had a hip flexor issue, and the team wanted to provide him rest.  Cornerback D.J. White returned to practice on a limited basis for the first time since suffering a fracture in his hand.

Linebacker Justin Houston, who remains on the physically unable to perform list, observed practice but did not participate in the portion open to the media.
