KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs announced Thursday the hiring of Brock Olivo as assistant special teams coach.
Prior to joining the Chiefs, Olivo spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Coastal Carolina where he coached running backs and assisted on special teams.

Before becoming a member of the Coastal Carolina coaching staff, he coached running backs for the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League in 2011.
Olivo played collegiately at Missouri, where he established a then-school career record for rushing yards with 3,026 from 1994-97.
He also led the Tigers in scoring in three straight seasons from 1994-96.
After leaving Missouri, Olivo spent four seasons with the Detroit Lions playing running back and serving as special teams captain (1998-01).
He appeared in 44 games with the Lions.
Thursday’s announcement reunites Olivo with current Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub, who served on the Missouri coaching staff as strength and conditioning coach and defensive line coach from 1989-00.
Olivo replaces former Chiefs assistant special teams coach Kevin O’Dea, who recently took a position with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as special teams coordinator.
